A bottling company, located in Brazil, of a well known brand of soft drinks implemented DocPath technology in the year 2004 in order to face a critical business process. The development was carried out quickly, easily and in record time, because it was necessary to optimize the document generation and distribution in their office networks.

The relationship between both companies began ten years ago through IBM®, as a DocPath Partner. The Brazilian company has twelve distribution floors in two Brazilian States (Paraná and São Paulo), in which punctually supplies different sale points of drinks, thanks to the fact that all its manufacturing process is based on the top technology, which guarantees a high volume of production.

Electronic Invoicing

Among the technological needs of the bottling company from the beginning, the generation of fiscal notes stood out, as well as the generation of other documents that support this process -called DANFE: Auxiliary Document of the Electronic Fiscal Note- after adopting an electronic invoicing system.

One of the first actions involved integrating the generation of those documents with outputs generated by its ERP software of SAP®, in order for them to be supported by UNIX® AIX platforms. Therefore, some templates were developed which had to be more simple so they could be directly controlled by that bottling company. Generally these templates were complex and dynamic documents, which also had to be printed remotely in different offices of the business network.

Cost savings

The result indicated that DocPath technology replaced fiscal notes printing, which previously was performed in the matrix computers from the ERP of the bottling company.

Therefore, the solution DocPath Business Suite Pro was implemented for the AIX operating system in two production servers, and another one for a Disaster Recovery environment. Thanks to DocPath technology, centralized document generation from Curitiva (capital of the state of Parana) was possible . Also, from there, the prints and/or files in PDF format were distributed remotely through the business network, which had an impact on the cost savings due to the reduction of steps.

“Go Live” quick and easy

As a result of this collaboration, the bottling company is satisfied with the implementation of the DocPath Business Suite Pro solution, because the process was quick and easy. In addition DocPath provided in record time, a testing environment during which it was possible to develop the first fiscal note template in a short length of time. At the same time the technical team of the company received training, which enabled them to operate in the new environment on their own.

The quick and easy implementation of DocPath technology did not affect, in a negative way, the stability and robustness of the DocPath Business Suite Pro Solution, features which the bottling company gave great importance. In addition, the scalability of this software has an added value, because it has been possible to easily implement it in other facilities of the company according to the demand for the expansion of the Brazilian market.

Due to a good business relationship shared by both companies since a decade, the bottling company did not hesitate to regularly renew the maintenance and support contract, as well as recommend DocPath technology to other companies.
